How long should a resume be?
Common guidance is one page early in a career and two pages later on. Norms vary by country and field, so check what people in your field send.

A rule of thumb
One page if you have a few years of experience, two if you have a long history that is all relevant. Academic and some public-sector CVs run longer by convention.
What to cut first
Old roles that don't relate to the job, duplicated duties, and skills nobody would ask about. Keep the lines that show results.
A longer CV is still fine
Use the short version to apply and keep the long one to share. A CVArcade game has 2 to 15 entries. If your CV has more, extras are merged or left out, and you can restore any that were omitted. How the check works
Questions
Does a resume have to fit on one page?
No. It has to be easy to read. Cut lines that don't help the reader before you shrink the type.
